
ConstitutionPREAMBLE
We the members of Mt. Olivet declare and establish this constitution to preserve and secure the principles of our faith in God and to govern this body of born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ in an orderly manner (see 1 Corinthians 14:40).
ARTICLE I. NAME
1. This body of believers shall be known as Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Floyd County, Virginia, located at 9918 Floyd Highway, Copper Hill, VA 24079, hereinafter referred to sometimes as "the Church."
ARTICLE II. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
1. The Church shall seek the eternal salvation of all persons everywhere by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is revealed in the Holy Scriptures.
2. The Church shall provide regular opportunities for the public worship of the Triune God and shall also provide opportunities for fellowship with born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
3. The Church shall strive for the spiritual growth of its members through the faithful exposition and doctrinal preaching of the Bible and by living lives of obedience to the Lord's commandments as set forth in the Scriptures.
4. The Church shall contend for the moral improvement of the community and the culture it serves, insisting upon the establishment and maintenance of Biblical standards of morality and decency as the only system whereby society may flourish and people may enjoy true freedom.
ARTICLE Ill. STATEMENT OF FAITH

ARTICLE IV. CHURCH COVENANT
1. The Church Covenant establishes the formal basis for the bond of fellowship among the members of the Church. Membership in the Church is predicated upon the affirmation of and commitment to the Church Covenant as set forth in Appendix B, "Church Covenant." ARTICLE V. BY-LAWS
1. The Church By-Laws, Articles I-IX, establish the organizational structure of and the procedures for the government of the Church. (For a copy of our current by-laws please see the pastor.)
ARTICLE VI. RELATIONSHIPS
1. The government of the Church is vested in the active membership which composes it. It is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body. It recognizes the mutual counsel and cooperation which are common among Baptist Churches. The Church will cooperate with the duly constituted agencies and organizations affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention in accordance with Article VI of the Church's By-laws.
